Delete your Moonforge account
This page is for Moonforge
(com.productions.moonforge), the Android game published by
Pannotia Studios. It explains how to delete your account
or clear your game, what is removed, and what is kept.
Two different things you can do
They do different things, so pick the one you want. Both are in the app.
| Door | What it does | Can you come back? |
|---|---|---|
| Delete my game on this server | Clears your game on the server you are playing on, at once: your planets, fleets, artifacts, buildings, research, resources, queues, intel and alliance membership. Your Moon Credits stay with your account. Your level starts again; points already on the board stay. Your account record, your email address, your chat history and the battle reports you appear in are not removed. | Yes. Your account survives, and you pick a new starting location straight away without signing up afresh. |
| Delete account | Closes your account for seven days, then removes your sign-in and the personal data attached to it — described in full below. | Within seven days, yes, while a round is running: sign in and tap Keep my account. After that, no — to play again you would sign in as a new commander. |
How to do it
Both doors are in the app: Settings › Account › Leaving.
- Delete my game on this server acts at once. The app names what will go before you confirm, and then takes you back to the starting-location choice you made on your first day.
- Delete account closes your account for seven days — you can sign in and tap Keep my account at any time in those seven days while a round is running, and everything carries on as if you had never asked — and on the seventh day the account is emptied and your sign-in is deleted. During the seven days nothing is taken: your planets, fleets, alliance seat and credits are exactly where you left them, but the account cannot play, chat or be seen doing anything. One edge worth knowing: in the short settlement gap between one round and the next the game refuses both asking for a deletion and keeping the account, and the seven days keep counting through it. While that gap lasts, Keep my account will not work, so if you have changed your mind, keep the account before the round ends rather than waiting.
If you cannot sign in, email support@moonforge.co.za from the Google address you play with, say which of the two you want, and give your commander name. We will do it from our side within 30 days and reply when it is done.
Sending it from the address you sign in with is how we know the request is really yours — if you cannot, say so and we will find another way to check.
There is nothing else to do first: you do not need to cancel anything, leave your alliance, or give away your planets. If you command an alliance, command passes to your highest-ranked, longest-serving member and the alliance is told — by name if you cleared your game, without your name if you deleted your account. An alliance with nobody else in it is disbanded. On the deletion door this happens on the seventh day, when the account is emptied, not when you ask.
What a permanent delete removes
All of this happens on the seventh day.
- Your sign-in record — your email address and your Google identity. A session that was already open when the account was deleted can last up to an hour longer and can do nothing.
- Your commander name. The commander record itself is kept as a nameless placeholder — "Departed commander" with a number — so that other commanders' records still make sense; every profile field on it is cleared. Your commander name is held until the round that is running ends so nobody can take it over, then released — see the table below for the between-rounds case.
- Your game. Your fleets are destroyed wherever they are, garrisons at an ally's planet included; your planets are released to the map as abandoned and keep their names; your artifacts are used up; buildings, research, resources, queues and intel go with the planets; your alliance membership and rank; your level; your Moon Credits, set to zero, including any you paid for — not refunded. Your Forge Pass progress is lost to you the same way; its records are kept with the purchase records, unlinked from your name (see the table below). Other commanders' radar forgets your name.
- Your messages. Your alliance chat and voice notes are deleted. Your global chat messages are replaced with "This message was deleted" (the original is kept where only a moderator can read it, for moderation). A direct message is one record shared by both commanders: the other commander keeps their copy, shown under "Departed commander".
- Your profile picture.
- Your in-app mailbox and notification history.
- Feedback you sent us, and crash reports your app sent us.
- The record of which screens you used and for how long, the device and address sightings your app produced, and push delivery records.
What is kept, and for how long
We would rather name these than let you assume they disappear.
| What | Why it stays, and for how long |
|---|---|
| Moderation records | If something you sent was reported by another player, that report keeps its own copy of the message, voice note or picture, with the identifiers of the person who reported it and the person who sent it. They are deliberately not linked to your account, so that a safety decision can still be justified afterwards. Kept indefinitely. |
| Battle reports and the round archive | Kept, with the fight and your name in them. A battle report between two commanders is a single record shared by both of you; rewriting or deleting it would take the other commander's record away too. The archive of the map at the end of each round also keeps the name each planet was held under. Kept indefinitely. |
| Direct messages | The other commander keeps their copy of every conversation with you, shown under "Departed commander". Kept indefinitely, or until they delete it from their side. |
| The placeholder record | A nameless commander record — "Departed commander" with a number — with every profile field cleared. It exists so that the shared records above, and other commanders' score history, still point at something. Kept indefinitely. |
| The score ledger, leaderboard history and medals | Kept under the placeholder. Live leaderboards exclude it; past weeks' boards and winners show "Departed commander" where your name was. Other commanders' scores are built on the same records, which is why they are not removed. Kept indefinitely. |
| Your planets | Released back to the shared map as abandoned rather than erased, keeping the names you gave them. Kept until the round ends. |
| Purchase records, and the Forge Pass records that go with them | Kept, unlinked from your name. An order can be disputed or refunded through Google Play long after the account is gone, and we must be able to answer. The Forge Pass records — what was granted, how far it got, what was claimed — are what an order bought, so they are kept with it. Kept indefinitely. |
| Your reserved commander name | Held so that nobody else can take your name over in the same round, and shown nowhere. Released when the round that is running ends. If the account is deleted in the gap between one round and the next, the hold runs to the latest round end the server knows of — which may already have passed, in which case the name is free at once. A name made only of emoji has nothing to hold and is not reserved. |
| The history of your past names | Every rename you made is a moderation record and stays one. Kept indefinitely. |
| Records carrying your account identifier | Historical census tables and internal audit tables hold your account identifier. After a deletion it points at the placeholder, not at you. Kept indefinitely. |
| Backups | Deleting removes your data from the live game. Copies can persist in our hosting provider's backups for a period afterwards, on a window set by our hosting plan, before they age out. |
| Server logs | Request logs holding an IP address age out on their own rolling window and are not searched and edited on deletion. |
One thing worth knowing before you ask. A battle report between two commanders is a single record shared by both of you. It is kept, with the fight and your name in it, because rewriting or deleting it would take the other commander's record away too. Direct messages are also shared records: the other commander keeps their copy under "Departed commander".
Anything else
You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct something that is wrong. Write to the same address. There is no automatic export button, so it is done by hand.
What we collect in the first place, and why, is set out in full in the Moonforge privacy policy.
